  32. entities, but a full appreciation of all impacts
  33. requires a thorough understanding of all the
  34. biophysical and social changes invoked by a
  35. planned intervention. Biophysical impacts also
  36. have social impacts, and social changes can cause
  37. changes in the biophysical environment, which
  38. create biophysical impacts. To date, there has not
  39. been an adequate framework for integrating biophysical
  40. and social impact assessment. This paper
  41. presents a method for such integration using
  42. function evaluation as a conceptual framework.
  43. This has led to a better understanding of the full
  44. extent of human impacts, and the impact
  45. pathways that lead from interventions to the
